Root Canal

Restoring Your Smile and Oral Health

A root canal is a dental procedure performed to save and restore a severely damaged or infected tooth.

The treatment involves removing the infected or inflamed pulp, which is the soft tissue inside the tooth that contains nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. Once the infected pulp is removed, the root canal space is thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and sealed to prevent reinfection. Holmes Endodontics utilizes evidence-based, biocompatible materials for all root canal treatments.

Several factors can lead to the need for a root canal treatment. Deep decay, trauma to the tooth, cracks or fractures, repeated dental procedures on the same tooth, or a faulty crown can all cause infection or inflammation within the tooth’s pulp. If left untreated, the infection can spread, causing severe pain, swelling, and even the formation of an abscess.
